  1. Something that I did like about the book is that is doesn’t really talk about Lily in the war. It more talks about her adventure while the war was going on. One thing that I didn’t like about the book is that Lily did not get to say by to her dad. I like she really regretted that after the war was over in France. The way I thought the way that the story ended was very happy and nice. For example, when poppy came home and the kitten was still alive that was so nice that that happened. Also, how they found out the Ruth still had made it. I wish that Gram was not always pushing Lily around. For example, when she had to play the piano that was not fun for Lily now was it. Overall I really liked this book and loved the things and ideas that happened in it.

  2. The thing I enjoyed most about the book is when Margaret gave Lily the key to her house and Lily did not know what to do with it. Also,I did not like when Albert put the cat in the bag and threw it out it into the ocean. I thought that was very very very mean to the cat the cat could have di then. I loved when the story ended because Poppy got to come home. Also, they got to go to the summer house all together. And their family was so excited to be all together again. I with Ruth did not get sick because Albert was very sad for the whole book because he was not with Ruth.

  3. What I liked about the book is because it teaches how to compromise with others and just stick together. For example, when Lily and Albert first met it seemed like they hated each other, but now later in the book Lily teaching Albert how to swim because he thinks that he can swim to his sister in france. What I didn’t like about this book is Lily always lies to Gram. For example, when they were leaving Lily lied about practicing the piano. She also lied about her report card. The way the story ended to me it was sad because Albert went back to Canada. Lily found Alberts cat, but the cat didn’t remember Lily. I wish that whoever threw the cat into the pond shouldn’t have done that.

  4. I enjoyed this book because I liked the friendship between Lily and Albert. I liked that Gram helped Lily understand empathy because she wrote a letter to Margaret when Eddie went missing and it could have been Poppy.
I didn’t like the part about the man putting a cat in a bag and throwing it in the water.
I love the ending because Albert and Ruth are back. I wish Margaret would come back. I also wish Albert’s parents would be alive still.
